What's New

Blog Posts

Starting June 26, 2026, weekly blog posts are no more and instead, blog posts are to be for status on specific projects or other content that could be useful.

Theming

The grayscale theme is to be applied more and icons for project page and blog post links are to be in grayscale too. This also reduces file sizes of such images by a significant amount. While the icons are often than 80KB in size, the file sizes add up when there are dozens of them on a page.

Project Status

For this one post, here's the status of the projects within the last year.

Server Reconfiguration

The server reconfiguration is more or less almost done as of June 26, 2026. What is left to do is to install the four SSDs into the virtualization server, SVCS, then set up a ZFS pool. After that, is to configure VMs with FreeBSD's hypervisor, bhyve.

The dedicated pfSense router was set back up, restoring the ability to remotely access the home network,

memholder

memholder v4, being another revision of the memholder computer memory module racks, was started earlier this year to address possible changes to the design to improve 3D print speeds and quality along with the embedding of NFC tags into the print for both inventory management and storing manufacturing information.

A new CAD pipeline was trialed for this project, utilizing LibreCAD to draw designs and importing them into OpenSCAD with its DXF import feature.

As of writing, the method used to try to improve print quality was to add fillets and chamfers to nearly every corner. Curves were used with the idea that it would lead to smoother movement direction transitions. Curves, after slicing, manifest as tens to hundreds of G0/G1 instructions per corner, this leads to significantly larger files and from what was observed, inaccurate print time estimates.

NLabel

As of June 26, 2026, status on NLabel is uncertain.

The hardware, now using NTAG213 stickers and an ACR122U NFC reader/writer, is established for the most part.

QLabel

QLabel may see some major changes soon with some ideas that came about recently.

Fandom Items

Development and production of fandom items for the Homestuck franchise and cosemetic/novelty items in general was put on hold indefinitely in May. It came to a realization that the current setup was configured for speed over quality with production of functional 3D prints like memholder.

I'd rather distance myself from the Homestuck franchise altogether for personal reasons but its influence so far is here to stay.
