Projects
With software projects, I seem to have reached the "pit of dispair" of the Dunning-Kruger effect. I have found it difficult to find the "right" way of developing software with there being many different opinions.
The Website
On January 21, I have decided that I should switch domain names given the environment now faced in the United States. I have not decided what to use yet.
StaticSite
On January 25, I have added support for converting draw.io files in page directories to PNG upon building. This is especially important for MediaCow Touch 2 that makes use of draw.io extensively.
ToDoKiosk and TaskSystem
Recently, I came to the conclusion that CalDAV-based To-Do lists will not work.
Existing options for interacting with CalDAV servers are limited and what is available has not been optimal.
MWDL1
Recently, I have considered a display upgrade on the HP ZBook that I have been using on a regular basis. In recent times, especially after the start of MediaCow Touch 2's development in 2024, I have became quite picky about displays that I use.
On January 23, I have received an Innolux N156HCA-EAC panel though I was expecting an N156HCG-EN1. I later found out that the panel was sold as a replacement for an N156HCG-EN1. As the panel is similar enough and I have installed it into the laptop already, I do not plan on doing anything about it.
During installation, I realized that the panel does not have brackets so I had to improvise and use double-sided tape to hold the display in place. This is the same method I plan to use for the display assembly on MediaCow Touch 2.
It was still a massive upgrade over what I had before; the Samsung LTN156HL02-001. The cost of the LCD panel was around US$70 though it would go a long way.
"script-dump"
On January 26, I received an email thanking me for creating piskelc2svg.py and open sourcing it, it being the only tool that converted Piskel's C export to an SVG file.
The script was created for when I used to draw glyphs for the Pixel font series in Piskel before finding out about FontForge's bitmap font editor and bitmap font formats in general.
Like most of my software projects, it was created for my own use and then released in the public domain (The Unlicense) or under a highly permissive license (MIT License). I do not expect anything in return for making such things.
Personal
Personal projects, college work and personal development has suffered within the last few weeks, lacking motivation.
On January 16, nearly two weeks ago, I had to increase my dosage of fluoxetine (Prozac) back up to 20mg, I believe the medication is not responsible for this. Besides, it should not have an effect so quickly.
I do not see MediaCow Touch 2 being completed before I go to GalaxyCon Richmond 2025 in mid-late March and I felt as I have wasted all of January already.
I have been filled with uncertainty about my near future, especially since the presidential inauguration.
College
I had a rough start in two out of three of my classes in the Spring 2025 semester, for reasons described in the above section.
The one class that I am sure that I would succeed in is PC Hardware and OS Arch. Most of it seems to basic computer assembly and system administration; things I have done time and time again with 2nd Life Inc, tech support gigs, personal setups and online discussions. A lot, if not all, of the material covers CompTIA A+ certification.
