Projects
memholder
The production run of memholders for 2nd Life Inc. concluded this week as enough have been made for our purposes, especially after the simplifying how we organize memory modules, as described under the Thursday, November 13 section. This is a very good thing as I no longer have to stay up every night making these things.
WBPC monitors
Following receiving the five ThinkVision T24i-10 monitors from 2nd Life Inc, on Thursday, November 13, three took place of the monitors on the "main" desktop (WBPC1) and one took place of the one on the lab desktop (WBPC2). It is not as good as the laptop AAS panels I have grown used to, but it is still an improvement over the MVA/SVA/TN/PLS being used before.

Monday, November 10
Once again, what information about what happened this day is quite limited apart from working on some monitors and RAM. I came across an ASUS monitor from December 2020 that appeared to have a Qisda M240Q007 V6 panel which is something a bit different.
Tuesday, November 11
At some point, we started working on several pallets of Lenovo ThinkVision T24i-10/20 monitors all dating 2017-2020. Using the same service menu method to figure out panel type and backlight hour count.
Wednesday, November 12
Continuing work on the ThinkVision monitors, I eventually came across a monitor with an Innolux AAS panel, then a few more. I could not believe it at first given how hard pressed I was looking for this specific panel type in desktop monitors.
Thursday, November 13
After noticing for a while that how memory modules were organized was too complicated, I dropped sorting by topology and speed and now memory modules are organized by just capacity, type and format. For example, it went from: "DDR4 SODIMM 8GB 1Rx8 DDR4-2400 1.2v non-ECC Unbuffered" to "DDR4 8GB LAPTOP". This just makes things easier for everyone, including myself, and is still a massive improvement over having all of the RAM in bins. This also lowered the amount of memholders required to the point where there was no longer a need to continue 3D printing more.
After inspecting dozens of Lenovo ThinkVision monitors, I have gotten together five that I have identified to have Innolux M238HCA-L3B panels. After asking, I received all five monitors in return for the memholders I have produced from November 4 to November 13.
Friday, November 14
After concluding sorting of RAM on Thursday, for most of this shift, I worked on reorganizing the cable shelf as it was getting increasingly to find a specific video adapter or cable. This was a great undertaking but I managed to get it done by the end of the day.
VCU
In what seemed like a while now, this week, I started coming into VCU again to work on setting up Fedora on many laptops for an upcoming VCU LUG LAN party.
Tuesday, November 11
I came in to help work on setting up Fedora on what appeared to be over a dozen ThinkPad T440p laptops. +
Getting into that same "zone" as I would at 2nd Life Inc., I managed to get Fedora installed on six systems within 30 minutes.
Wednesday, November 12
Though coming in a little bit late, I was introduced to using CloneZilla within PartedMagic to write a pre-configured Fedora Linux installation to the hard drive in one of the ThinkPads from a server, interestingly enough, it being the compile server. This method was done with all of the systems involved for the LAN party.
Personal
This has been one of my most uplifting weeks this year.
Following success with a specific addition to the medication regimine, I feel as I am now able to start enjoying more things again. However, I believe that this addition is not sustainable.
Homestuck and Tumblr
On November 11, I started to interact with the Homestuck community again. This time, it being a great experience, feeling great relief that Hiveswap was not abandoned and that there are others out there who still care about it. In fact, Hiveswap Act 3 is still in development by the looks of it.
I started using Tumblr on November 16 initially to interact with Hiveswap development. I figured it could be a way to post about stuff that would usually not warrant an entire post on this website.
